About the Author

Patricia Herber Ever since author Patricia Herber was a little girl, she has always loved to rhyme, whether reciting chants or jingles while jumping rope, or reading Mother Goose rhymes to her younger brothers and sisters while they were growing up. As a former teacher, she firmly believes that the concept of rhyming is an important skill in learning how to read; however, she has discovered over the years that a lot of parents no longer recite and/or read nursery rhymes to their toddlers as she had done with her own children. Some girls and boys enter school without knowing anything about rhymes, and how they can help make reading a lot easier for them. The author has spent a large part of her life with young children as an Elementary teacher. She credits many rewarding experiences in the classroom as well as the subjects she taught in first grade as the inspiration for the poems that she has included in her book. Herber is deeply indebted to her daughter Amy for typing her rough drafts so they could be sent for consideration to be published. She is also appreciative of her husband Larry for his love, support, and constant encouragement throughout this new endeavor. She hopes readers will enjoy reading her poems as much as she has enjoyed writing them.
